Masquerade by Nyrae Dawn

A biker. A tattoo artist. A love to last a lifetime.
Maddox Cross has always had to be tough. When his father went to jail for murder, the teenager took care of his sister and mother. Now on his own and working security at a night club, Maddox wants to become a tattoo artist-a dream that comes closer to reality when he falls for the hottest, most tatted woman he's ever seen. She's wild and beautiful, and Maddox will do anything to be with her.

Bee Malone came to town to open up her new tattoo parlor, Masquerade. Since being kidnapped as a young girl, Bee has had trouble getting close to anyone. But when she meets Maddox, she sees that under his hard biker's body is the sensitive soul of an artist. What starts out as a sizzling one-night stand soon becomes so much more.

Bee wants Maddox to join her tattoo business, but letting him into her life means revealing all her most intimate secrets. And as the past begins to intertwine with her present, Bee fears their love may not be as permanent as their ink . . .

Masquerade is book three in Nyrae Dawn's Games series and this was my first time reading a book by her, though after reading this I definitely plan on getting the other two books in this series and reading those! These books are companion books, so you don't have to read them all together, you can read them separately like I did! I was given this book as an arc off Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, so thank you Netgalley and Grand Central Forever publishing!

**May contain spoilers!!**

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a hot yet sometimes sweet but definitely awesome read! I haven't read many books where the relationship starts off as lust filled and then goes to professional. That was a nice change of view! After they spend time with each other and share each others love for art and tattoo art they become close friends, but both of them are really closed off and not very open with anyone, really. I loved watching them slowly fall for each other and watching them being to trust and open up to each other. I loved watching Bee learn what it is to love someone and once she realized that she loves Maddox she lets her mother back into her life.

This book was emotional and it was everything it needed to be. I loved Maddox and I loved Bee. Maddox felt like he was constantly screwing up and he felt like every bad thing that happened was somehow his fault, he felt responsible for everything that went wrong with his sister, or his mom or anyone close to him really. It was heartbreaking. Maddox and Bee both start to get feelings for each other but it scares them both because they've never felt that way for someone else but and I just loved that even though Bee wanted to run away, she didn't and Maddox didn't either, they both helped each other get over the fear of loving someone and letting someone in.

Now enjoy some lovely quotes from the book!

"We're not perfect, though none of us are. We're works in progress and what matters is we're moving forward and we're doing it together."

"The thought of being next to her fills me up a little when I've been used to being empty for so long."

Stop making me want you.” The same heat from his eyes are now in his words. “Stop letting me have you.” I reply, and it seems to inflame him more.

"It's so much fucking pressure to be what other people need you to be. Especially when you fail over and over, like I did."

This series was an emotional, sometimes intense, but also sweet read and I enjoyed it so much! I can't wait to read the other books in this series!

Rating: 4/5 stars!
